Capturing the music industry by storm in the late 80’s, six young men from Compton, South Central L.A., and Dallas set out to tell their realities of the street with hard-hitting bars and aggressive beats in the form of Straight Outta Compton in 1988, and No One Can Do It Better in 1989. Their brand of music added a jolt to the hip-hop scene, giving voice to the dwellers of the inner-city youth and striking fear in law enforcement and gatekeepers of music all over the country.

We decided to create 8-bit versions of their visages, to align with the historic first album’s release date - August 8, 1988.

The foundation required a cross section of connections to reinforce the model.

Filling out the face - the goal here was to use a series of plates that would add strength without adding too much curve to the model.
